COVID-19 & SOCIAL DISTANCING SERVICES

The New Normal - Social Distancing & Pedestrian Modelling

COVID-19 has changed the way we live. Social distancing has become the norm. Businesses are facing the reality of adapting to the practical and commercial implications of social distancing. Using specialized pedestrian simulation and decades of expertise, Ramboll can help answer the hard questions facing business owners and transport operators.

How do I safely optimise internal circulation at my development, while minimizing impact to revenue?
My lift capacity is reduced. How long do my tenants have to wait now? Is there enough lobby space?
As ridership on my transport system increases, what are the limits before my main stops are unsafe?

When patrons must be 1m apart, it takes careful planning of the internal circulation to ensure safe distances while visitors circulate. Using specialized pedestrian modelling we can identify bottle-necks, help plan the access points and internal circulation to maximize efficiency and throughput.

With lift capacity reduced, even reduced office staff will cause stress on elevator banks. We can use modelling tools to estimate the capacity of an elevator system and the wait times based on different levels of staffing (25%, 50%, 75%, etc.)

As business returns to normal operations, ridership will increase on transport systems. We can evaluate the practical capacities and thresholds for safe operations. This can inform operations and planning policy
